I’ve been in accounting for over 18 years and I know how to progressively grow a career. I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors throughout my career and now I’m passionate about helping others. I believe accounting is a storytelling role through numbers and I’ve always been fascinated with analytics. I think great careers are built by:
building great interpersonal communication skills,
building relationships,
knowing how to collaborate and gain buy-in from others,
being highly organized and driving efficiencies,
continuously focusing on process improvement, and
closing the strategy-execution gap
I am a part of a nationwide financial training committee with American State Utilities where I develop SOPs and train new accounting hires. I’m a pro at driving process improvements, obtaining buy-in from operational teams, and building visual dashboards utilizing Excel.
Today, I spend time mentoring early and mid-career professionals on how to build these skills and how to find opportunities at their employers to build their resume and skillset. I also love to act as a sounding board for senior professional peers who can benefit from collaborating on ideas with someone outside of their organization. Together I believe we can avoid mistakes, save our organizations money, and accelerate our careers faster - together.
